ReadMe! Privacy Policy

Effective 1 August 2026

Your local library stays local unless you choose cloud sync. ReadMe! does not sell personal information, run targeted advertising, collect precise location, or send book text through product analytics.

1. Who is responsible

ReadMe! is operated by Spritz Holding LLC (“ReadMe!”, “we”, “us”), 6300 Sagewood Dr, Ste H502, Park City, UT 84098, USA. Spritz Holding LLC is the controller of personal information described in this policy.

For privacy or support requests, contact ReadMe! support.

2. What this policy covers

This policy covers the ReadMe! iOS app, readmei.com and v2.readmei.com, optional ReadMe! accounts, cloud sync, customer communications, purchase restoration, and migration from earlier versions of ReadMe!.

You can use the sample book, import local books, read normally, and try the per-book Premium preview without an account. Books, positions, bookmarks, and preview records created locally remain on your device unless you choose cloud sync.

3. Information we process

CategoryExamples and purpose
AccountEmail address, display name, ReadMe! user ID, and information supplied by the sign-in method you choose. Used to authenticate you and provide account services.
Optional cloud libraryBooks you choose to sync, title, author, format, file size, content fingerprint, cover, exact reading locator, fallback progress, bookmarks, revisions, and quota usage. Used to sync your library and restore the correct place across devices.
Purchases and accessApp Store product and transaction identifiers, purchase and expiry dates, ownership status, and verified entitlement evidence. Used to grant and verify Premium access, process restores, prevent duplicate claims, and meet accounting or fraud-prevention obligations. We do not receive your payment-card number.
Diagnostics and securityLimited technical and diagnostic information used to operate, protect, and improve ReadMe!, such as the app or browser version and whether a request succeeds.
Product analyticsPseudonymous usage information used to understand how the app is used so we can improve it. Collection starts only after you choose “Share Analytics” and can be turned off at any time in Library Settings.
CommunicationsEmail address, marketing choice, message delivery status, suppression status, and support correspondence. Used for password recovery, service announcements, support, and marketing only where permitted.
Legacy migrationLimited account, purchase, and cloud-library information from earlier versions of ReadMe! while needed to claim or delete legacy data. A limited record may remain to prevent deleted legacy data from being imported again.

4. Information we do not collect

ReadMe! v2 does not collect precise location, contacts, camera or microphone data, advertising identifiers, or health data. We do not use cross-app tracking or targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Product analytics do not include book contents, extracted text, annotations, filenames, reading positions, or information intended to identify an individual reader.

5. Why we process information

We process account, sync, support, and entitlement information to provide the service you request and perform our contract with you. We process limited security and reliability information for our legitimate interests in protecting and improving ReadMe! without profiling individual readers. We use your consent for product analytics and optional marketing, and comply with legal obligations where transaction or business records must be retained. You may withdraw either consent at any time without affecting processing already performed lawfully.

6. Analytics, browser storage, and cookies

Product analytics are pseudonymous. They use a protected identifier derived from a random identifier assigned to this app installation. The identifier is not connected to a ReadMe! account or used for targeted advertising. Collection starts only after you choose to share analytics. Turning analytics off stops future collection but does not delete analytics already collected. Re-enabling analytics uses the same installation identifier.

ReadMe! also uses limited diagnostic information to operate, protect, and improve the Service.

The website uses storage that is necessary for sign-in and core site functions. We do not use advertising cookies.

7. Service providers and disclosures

We use service providers to help operate ReadMe!. The following safeguards apply whenever they process information for us:

  • Service providers may process personal information only on our behalf and under our instructions;
  • we share only the information reasonably necessary for them to provide services to ReadMe!;
  • we require appropriate contractual, privacy, and security safeguards;
  • we do not authorize service providers to use book content for advertising;
  • we do not sell personal information;
  • we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising; and
  • we review our service-provider arrangements as the Service changes.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect readers or the service, in a business reorganization subject to appropriate safeguards, or with your direction. We do not allow service providers to use book content for advertising.

8. How long we keep information

  • Local books and reading data remain on your device until you remove them or the app.
  • Account and active cloud-library data remain while your account is open or until you delete the relevant cloud book.
  • When you delete a synced book, ReadMe! removes its synced files and associated cloud reading data. Limited deletion records may remain for up to 90 days so deletion can synchronize across devices and complete reliably.
  • Cloud account data is removed when in-app account deletion completes, subject to the limited records below. Cleanup of data carried forward from earlier versions may continue briefly afterward.
  • Detailed product analytics are kept for up to 90 days. Aggregated and installation-level product analytics are kept for up to five years. Limited diagnostics are kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for security and reliability.
  • Email delivery and suppression records remain as needed to deliver messages and honor opt-outs. Support records remain as needed to resolve the request and protect the service.
  • Limited transaction, legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, and dispute records may be retained as required by law or to protect ReadMe! and its users.
  • Copies in service-provider backups and security logs may remain until the provider’s limited retention period ends, after which they are deleted or overwritten.

9. Account and book deletion

You can delete your ReadMe! account yourself in the iOS app. Open Library Settings, expand Privacy & Account Controls, then choose Delete Account and Cloud Data. Account deletion removes your ReadMe! account, synced cloud books, cloud reading positions, cloud bookmarks, linked sign-in identity, and account-bound Premium records. When required by your sign-in method, ReadMe! may ask you to authenticate again to complete deletion.

Because product analytics are pseudonymous and not connected to a ReadMe! account, deleting an account does not remove analytics already collected.

Deleting the account does not delete books, positions, bookmarks, or preview records stored only on that device. It also does not cancel an Apple subscription; manage or cancel subscriptions separately in Apple Account settings. If you later create another account, it is a new account and deleted cloud data is not restored.

You may also delete individual cloud-synced books inside the app without deleting your account. If deletion does not complete, contact ReadMe! support.

10. Email choices

We send password recovery, security, purchase, migration, and material service notices when needed to operate your account. These are service messages, not marketing. We send promotional email only to readers who opted in or where another lawful basis permits it. Every marketing message includes an unsubscribe method, and opting out does not stop essential service notices.

11. International transfers

Spritz Holding LLC is in the United States, and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other transfer rules apply, we rely on applicable adequacy decisions, contractual safeguards, or another lawful transfer mechanism offered by the provider.

12. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your account or synced library has been compromised, contact ReadMe! support.

13. Children

ReadMe! is a general-audience reading app and its cloud accounts are not directed to children under 13. A child may use local, account-free reading under a parent or guardian’s supervision, but must not create a cloud account. If you believe a child under 13 supplied personal information, contact ReadMe! support and we will investigate and delete it where required.

14. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a portable copy of personal information, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent. We do not make decisions about you solely by automated means that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

To delete your account and associated cloud data, use the account-deletion control inside the iOS app. For other privacy requests, contact ReadMe! support. We may need to verify that the account is yours. You may also complain to the data-protection or consumer-privacy authority where you live. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

15. Changes and contact

We will post the current policy here and give appropriate notice before a material change takes effect. For questions about this policy, contact ReadMe! support.
